A hydrochloric acid leak from a rail car at a CSX facility in Baltimore was contained Wednesday afternoon, fire officials said.
What’s Happening: The Baltimore City Fire Department responded shortly before 3:30 p.m. to the 800 block of Chesapeake Avenue and 9th Street after CSX reported the leak. HazMat units identified and contained the source.
What’s Important: The leak stayed within the rail yard. No injuries were reported and no traffic disruptions are expected.
What We Know: The Maryland Department of the Environment is on scene assisting with cleanup and mitigation efforts.
