A printing error caused some Maryland voters to receive the wrong party’s ballot for the upcoming gubernatorial primary election, the Maryland State Board of Elections said.
What’s Happening: State officials say the state’s mail-in ballot vendor made an error during printing that sent some voters a ballot for the wrong political party. The error affects only voters who were mailed a ballot before May 14.
What’s Being Done: The State Board of Elections is sending a postcard to every affected voter. All mail-in voters will also receive a replacement ballot in the mail. The replacement ballot will be labeled “REPLACEMENT BALLOT.”
How This Affects Real People: Voters who received a mail-in ballot before May 14 should watch for both a postcard and a replacement ballot. The replacement ballot is the one voters should use. Voters with questions can call the State Board of Elections at (410) 269-2840 or email absentee.SBE@maryland.gov. More information is available at elections.maryland.gov.
