A tornado watch covers 19 Maryland counties and Baltimore City through 10 p.m. Thursday.

What’s Happening: The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch that includes:

  • Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Carroll, Cecil, Charles, Harford, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George’s and St. Mary’s counties, plus Baltimore City.
  • Caroline, Kent, Queen Anne’s and Talbot counties.
  • Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester counties.

What’s Important: The watch does not include Allegany, Frederick, Garrett or Washington counties.

The Rule: A tornado watch means conditions could lead to tornadoes in or near the listed areas. It does not mean a tornado has been spotted. A tornado warning is issued when a tornado has been seen or detected on radar.
