A loaded stolen handgun led to the arrest of a Parkville teenager during a traffic stop in Glen Burnie late Thursday night, Anne Arundel County police said.

What happened: Officers stopped a gray Ford F-150 on Solley Road near Tanyard Springs Lane at about 10:10 p.m. May 15. During the stop, officers found a loaded 9mm Springfield Arms handgun inside the vehicle. The gun had been reported stolen.

The arrest: The driver, 18-year-old Christopher J. Malik McLeod of Parkville, was arrested and charged. Police said McLeod is prohibited from possessing firearms due to his age.

What’s still unknown: The specific charges McLeod faces were not listed in the police statement. It is also unclear whether anyone else was in the vehicle at the time of the stop.

In Maryland, a person must be 21 years old to legally possess a handgun. Possession of a regulated firearm by someone under 21 is a criminal offense under state law. Possessing a stolen firearm is a separate charge.
