The National Weather Service in Mount Holly issued a tornado warning for northeastern Queen Anne’s County and east-central Kent County until 6 p.m. Thursday.

What’s Happening: Radar showed rotation in a severe thunderstorm near Church Hill at 5:30 p.m. The storm was 11 miles north of Centerville and moving east at 35 mph.

What’s Important: The storm cluster could produce tornadoes and widespread wind damage. Flying debris could injure anyone without shelter, while mobile homes could be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, vehicles and trees was also expected.

Areas in the warning: Chestertown, Millington, Sudlersville, Massey, Crumpton, Morgnec and Kingstown could be affected.

How This Affects Real People: Residents should move immediately to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and stay away from windows. Anyone outdoors, in a vehicle or in a mobile home should enter the nearest strong shelter and protect against flying debris. Residents should not wait to see or hear a tornado before taking cover.
