A Capitol Heights woman was shot and killed inside a vehicle Friday night, and her former boyfriend is now charged with her murder.
What’s Happening: Dakota Keys, 31, was found with a gunshot wound inside a vehicle in the 1900 block of Brooks Drive at about 10:10 p.m. July 4. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
What’s Important: Terrence Penn Jr., 31, of Temple Hills, turned himself in to police shortly after the shooting. He faces first- and second-degree murder charges and is being held without bond.
What We Know: Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit described the killing as domestic-related. Penn Jr. was Keys’ former boyfriend, according to police.
What’s Still Unknown: Police have not said what led to the shooting or whether any witnesses were present.
