Two elderly residents died in a house fire on Harmon Road in Montgomery County early Sunday morning, and one firefighter was injured battling the blaze.

What’s Happening: Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews arrived to find a split-level single-family home with heavy fire on the second floor spreading through the roof. Firefighters knocked down the fire while searching the home.

What’s Important: A partial roof collapse complicated the firefighting effort. Despite the conditions, crews brought the fire under control. One firefighter suffered minor burns and was taken to MedStar Washington Hospital Center for evaluation and treatment.

What’s Still Unknown: The identities of the two victims have not been released. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
