A Pasadena man was arrested this week, more than a year after his girlfriend was found unresponsive at their home and later died.

What’s Happening: Heather Elizabeth Beaver, 34, was found at 1204 Lorene Court in Pasadena on April 4, 2025, after Scott Anthony Kirby, 33, called 911 and told dispatchers she appeared to be overdosing. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

What’s Important: The state medical examiner ruled Beaver’s death a homicide caused by multiple blunt force injuries. Toxicology results ruled out an overdose. Officers responding to the scene observed injuries on Beaver’s body and called in the Homicide Unit. Evidence at the scene was consistent with a violent struggle.

What Changed: Investigators determined Kirby’s account did not match the evidence. On April 22, 2026, a judge issued an arrest warrant. Kirby was taken into custody April 23 by the Anne Arundel County Police Fugitive Apprehension Team, working with the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force.

The Charges: Kirby faces second degree murder, first degree assault, second degree assault, and making a false statement to an officer.
