A Maryland State Police trooper assigned to the Rockville Barrack made more DUI arrests last year than any other state trooper in more than a decade, the department announced Thursday.
What’s Happening: Trooper First Class Bryce Thienhom was named the 2025 Trooper of the Year at an awards ceremony in Timonium on Thursday. More than 200 troopers, civilian employees, allied law enforcement officers, and emergency personnel were honored at the event.
What’s Important: Thienhom made 156 DUI arrests in 2025, the most by any Maryland State Trooper since 2013. He pursued specialized training in accident reconstruction, DUI enforcement, intoximeter certification, and highway gun crime investigations.
Catch Up Quick: Thienhom is a graduate of the 154th Maryland State Police Academy Class. He is assigned to the Rockville Barrack in Montgomery County. Honorees at Thursday’s ceremony received Governor’s Citations, Superintendent Salutes, Life Saving Awards, and other distinctions.
“It is an honor to recognize the sworn and professional staff members of the Department who go above and beyond to serve and protect all Marylanders,” said Col. Michael A. Jackson, Superintendent of the Maryland State Police.
