The Maryland flag will fly at half-staff Monday in honor of a highway construction worker who died on the job last week.
What’s happening: Gov. Wes Moore ordered the flag lowered from sunrise to sunset May 4 in honor of Dipakkumar R. Patel, a Maryland highway construction worker who died April 28.
What’s important: Patel died in the line of duty. No other details about the circumstances of his death were immediately available.
Catch up quick: Half-staff orders for workers killed on the job are issued at the governor’s discretion. Maryland law does not require them, but governors have used such orders to recognize workers who die in the course of their duties.
