Maryland’s transit agency suspended its paratransit service for the rest of Sunday as winter storm conditions worsened across the state.

What’s Happening: The Maryland Transit Administration stopped its Mobility service Sunday and closed its reservation call center. Riders dropped off Sunday morning will still be picked up and brought home.

What’s Important: The suspension affects paratransit riders who depend on the service for transportation. Maryland is under Winter Storm Warnings through Sunday and Monday, with 4 to 8 inches of snow and up to half an inch of ice expected in some areas.

The Storm: Heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain have hit Maryland since Saturday. Two Winter Storm Warnings cover different parts of the state. Dorchester County’s warning runs through 7 p.m. Monday. Wicomico, Somerset, Inland Worcester, and Maryland Beaches are under warning through 7 p.m. Sunday. Ice could build up to half an inch in Dorchester County Sunday into Sunday night.
