All vehicle access onto Solomons Island will be closed for about two hours on April 26 for the Southern Maryland Fireman’s Parade.

What’s Happening: The parade is scheduled to begin at noon and end around 2 p.m. Normal traffic flow will continue until noon, when all access onto the island and onto Route 4 from the island will be closed to allow the parade to proceed northbound off the island.

What’s Closed:

  • All southbound traffic on H.G. Trueman Road near Roy Rogers will be turned around and directed northbound onto Route 4
  • The exit ramp from northbound Route 4 onto Solomons Island will be closed during the parade
  • Traffic from Lore Road and the car wash/urgent care area will be required to turn right only and proceed northbound off the island

What Stays Open: Access to the Solomons boat ramp will remain open via the southbound Route 4 access ramp. Access to the urgent care and car wash can be made via the Roy Rogers entrance.

The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging motorists to arrive early, avoid the area, or plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time.
