Polls closed across Maryland at 8 p.m. Tuesday, and the night’s biggest question may already be settled: Gov. Wes Moore, flush with $7 million and facing only token Democratic opposition from Eric Felber, is expected to head for a comfortable primary victory. Republicans Dan Cox — the MAGA standard-bearer who lost to Moore by a historic margin in 2022 — and Ed Hale, a businessman who was a registered Democrat until last summer, are fighting for the chance to face him again in November. Meanwhile, Maryland Senate President Bill Ferguson is in the fight of his political life against Baltimore charter boat captain Bobby LaPin, and nearly two dozen Democrats are scrambling to succeed retiring Rep. Steny Hoyer in the 5th Congressional District. The Free State Press will update results throughout the night.
