Calvert High School held a mock crash demonstration in its parking lot Wednesday for juniors and seniors.

What’s Happening: The Chesapeake Region Safety Council staged a crash involving a distracted driver who struck a school bus while texting. The demonstration was held ahead of prom season and graduation.

What’s Important: Dr. Janet Bahouth of Crash Core presented crash data and prevention strategies. Jenny Weaver spoke about the impact of texting and driving. The Calvert Alliance Against Substance Abuse provided a drunk driving simulator for students.

The Message: The demonstration showed students that impaired, distracted, fatigued, or reckless driving can have consequences for drivers, families, and the community.
