Two boys were shot and killed Tuesday afternoon in Northeast DC. Police are investigating and offering a $50,000 reward for information.
What’s Happening: Police say 14-year-old Tyale Coates and 12-year-old Mhilo Young were shot in the 700 block of Kenilworth Avenue around 3:27 p.m. Tuesday. Both lived in Northeast DC.
One child was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and died there.
What’s Important: Police are asking anyone with information to call (202) 727-9099 or text 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department is offering up to $50,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
What We Know: The shooting happened in broad daylight on a Tuesday afternoon. Officers from the Sixth District responded to the scene. MPD’s Major Case Squad is handling the investigation.
