Waldorf felon pulls shotgun on woman. The cops were right there

Three men were arrested in Waldorf just after 4 a.m. July 31 after detectives watched one of them raise a sawed-off shotgun toward a woman in a parking area near the 3000 block of Gallery Place. All three were prohibited from owning firearms because of prior felony convictions.

What happened: Charles County Sheriff’s Office detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division were already in the area on an unrelated investigation when they saw a group of men and a woman arguing. One man, identified as 40-year-old Perrie Stephon Wilson of Waldorf, went into a nearby apartment building and came back carrying a sawed-off shotgun. He walked toward a woman standing next to a car and raised the weapon at her.

As officers moved in, Wilson dropped the shotgun into the passenger car and was taken into custody without a struggle.

Two more suspects: While Wilson was being arrested, detectives saw two other men running from the area with handguns. The men hid behind a building, then ran again when marked police vehicles arrived, stashing their firearms inside a nearby SUV before they were stopped.

One of those men, 24-year-old Curtis Lamont Williams, Jr., of Washington, D.C., had an active arrest warrant connected to a prior handgun incident. When officers told him about the warrant, he tried to run but was caught. A search found him carrying oxycodone, cannabis, and other drugs.

The third man, 27-year-old Delvon Jer’ve Tate of Waldorf, was also detained.

What was recovered: Detectives searched the area and found a book bag that had been thrown away. It contained cannabis valued at $600, crack cocaine valued at about $250, and several prescription Xanax bars.

After obtaining search warrants for both vehicles, detectives recovered two loaded handguns, each fitted with extended magazines. One of the handguns had a machine gun conversion device — commonly called a Glock switch — attached to it, which allows the weapon to fire automatically. That gun had previously been reported stolen. The sawed-off shotgun was also loaded when it was pulled from the passenger car.

Charges: Wilson was charged with first-degree assault and weapons violations. Williams was charged with assault and weapons violations. Tate was charged with weapons violations.

Wilson and Williams are being held at the Charles County Detention Center without bond. A court released Tate on electronic monitoring August 3.

The investigation is continuing.
