Calvert County announced closures of government facilities, parks, and waste centers Sunday and Monday as Maryland remains under a State of Emergency due to a winter storm.
What’s Happening: The Calvert County Department of Parks & Recreation and the Calvert Marine Museum will close all facilities Sunday. Calvert County Convenience Centers and the landfill will also close Sunday. The Calverton School will close Sunday and Monday.
What’s Closed Sunday: • Edward T. Hall Aquatic Center • All community centers • All recreation parks including Dunkirk District Park, Ward Farm Recreation & Nature Park, Hallowing Point Park and Cove Point Park • Chesapeake Hills Golf Course • Flag Ponds Nature Park • Kings Landing Park • Battle Creek Cypress Swamp and trails • The Calvert Marine Museum and Museum Store • The Appeal Convenience Center and Solid Waste Facility in Lusby, which includes the landfill and transfer station • Barstow Convenience Center in Barstow • Mt. Hope Convenience Center in Sunderland
What’s Closed Monday: Federal offices in the Washington, D.C. area will be closed Monday. Maximum telework is in effect. The Calverton School will remain closed Monday.
What Changed: Maryland is under Winter Storm Warnings as heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain hit the state Saturday through Monday. Governor Wes Moore declared a State of Emergency.
