Three people died late Tuesday night in a multi-vehicle crash at a busy Adelphi intersection, Prince George’s County police said.

What happened: The crash occurred about 11:25 p.m. at New Hampshire Avenue and Metzerott Road. A motorcycle and one vehicle were heading north on New Hampshire Avenue when a third vehicle, attempting a left turn onto Metzerott Road, struck them.

The motorcyclist, the driver of the second vehicle, and one of that vehicle’s passengers all died at the scene. Two other people were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

What we know: Police have not released the names of the three people killed, pending notification of their families. The cause of the crash is still being investigated.

What’s still unknown: Investigators have not said what caused the turning vehicle to pull into the path of oncoming traffic. The ages of those involved have not been released.
