Someone decided Monday was a fine day to rob a bank on Baltimore Avenue in Beltsville. He also, for reasons that remain a mystery to law enforcement and basic logic alike, brought a stolen cat that he had lifted from a pet store.

Prince George’s County police responded to the 10400 block of Baltimore Avenue at about 10:40 a.m. Monday after a bank robbery was reported. One adult male was taken into custody. The cat — which police confirmed was, in fact, stolen — was returned. No one was injured.

According to witnesses, the man asked a bank employee to hold the cat and then wrote his robbery note in the bank while the employee was holding the cat.
