Dense fog is cutting visibility to one quarter mile or less across parts of Maryland and Virginia Friday morning, making driving dangerous.

What’s Happening: A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Friday for portions of central, north central, and northern Maryland and central, northern, and northwest Virginia. The fog is making it hard to see on the roads.

What’s Important: The advisory covers Frederick, Carroll, Northern Baltimore, Southern Baltimore, Northwest Montgomery, Central and Southeast Montgomery, Northwest Howard, and Central and Southeast Howard counties in Maryland, plus Greene, Madison, Rappahannock, Orange, Culpeper, Fairfax, Northern Fauquier, Southern Fauquier, Western Loudoun, Eastern Loudoun, Northwest Prince William, and Central and Southeast Prince William/Manassas/Manassas Park in Virginia.

How This Affects Real People: Drivers should slow down, turn on headlights, and leave extra space between cars until the fog lifts mid-morning.
