The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down in Howard County, Maryland on Wednesday.
What’s Happening: The tornado struck Cooksville along Old Frederick Road on Wednesday evening, snapping and uprooting numerous trees.
What’s Important: The tornado had peak winds of 90 mph and lasted one minute, from 7:06 p.m. to 7:07 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. It traveled 0.4 miles and reached a maximum width of 100 yards.
The Bigger Picture: The same storm system produced tornado warnings in Carroll County, Frederick County, and Baltimore County. High wind gusts and rain also hit the area.
