An elderly driver died Friday after his car crossed into oncoming traffic and struck two pickup trucks on a Kent County road.
What’s Happening: Charles Ekstrom, an 85-year-old from Suddlersville, was found unresponsive inside his Toyota Camry on Route 291 at Maiden Lot Farm Lane Friday afternoon. He veered into the eastbound lane for reasons investigators have not yet determined.
What’s Important: The crash sent two other people to the hospital — the driver and passenger from one of the pickup trucks that Ekstrom’s car hit.
Between the Lines: Route 291 was shut down for about two hours while emergency crews worked the scene. Maryland State Police are investigating what caused Ekstrom to cross the center line.
