A St. Mary’s County school bus driver hit the jackpot with his go-to lottery numbers, taking home $50,000 from a Maryland Lottery Pick 5 game.
What’s Happening: The man played his favorite five-digit number — 10238 — with a $1 straight bet and won the top prize when those exact digits came up during the midday drawing on Dec. 2.
What’s Important: The winner took his big payday in stride when he claimed his prize Dec. 4 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, saying “it was not a big deal to me.” He said he plans to use the money to strengthen his finances.
Between the Numbers: The school bus driver doesn’t play every drawing, but got lucky on a day when he had a ticket in hand. While this is his biggest lottery win, he stayed remarkably calm about the windfall.
The Local Angle: The winning ticket was sold at the Leonardtown Food Lion at 40955 Merchant Lane. The grocery store will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
Ravens Pride: The Southern Maryland winner is a die-hard Baltimore Ravens fan living deep in Commanders territory. “It’s mostly Commanders fans where I live, but I am a proud Ravens fan,” he said.
Your Chance: Players can still get in on the action through Dec. 28 with the Lottery’s Let it Snow promotion. Play Pick 3, Pick 4 or Pick 5 and you could win a $2 or $5 Instant Win Coupon or a free $5 Snowflake Cash FAST PLAY ticket.
