Maryland searched for Ben & Jerry’s more than any other national ice cream brand in a Trace One analysis released Monday. The study covered the 12 months ending in July 2026.
What’s Happening: The study used Google Trends to compare nine brands: Baskin-Robbins, Ben & Jerry’s, Blue Bell, Breyers, Häagen-Dazs, Halo Top, Talenti, Tillamook and Turkey Hill.
The cold facts: The results track each brand’s share of searches within that group. They do not measure what Maryland residents bought or which ice cream they liked best. No taste test was involved.
By the scoop: Blue Bell finished first in 22 states. Ben & Jerry’s led nine states, including all six in New England, and Tillamook topped eight.
When searches peak: Ice cream searches in the United States rise and fall with the seasons, usually peaking in July.
The fine print: For a tie in any state, researchers looked at two years of Google data and selected the brand with the greater search share.
