Maryland fire investigators were working Saturday night at a Chestertown home after a reported explosion and fire, with one person still unaccounted for.

What’s Happening: Fire crews responded around 6 p.m. to the 6900 block of Pentridge Lane after a report of a house explosion. Six people were inside, and five got out.

What’s Important: As of 9:23 p.m., one person had not been accounted for. Deputy State Fire Marshals and K9 Deacon were investigating, and investigators said they recovered evidence indicative of a gas-related explosion.

What We Know: Excavators were requested to assist with debris removal and the investigation. The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal said it expected an extended operation and would release updates.
