Marylanders saw fewer homicides, shootings, and robberies in 2025, based on preliminary statewide crime data released by Gov. Wes Moore’s office. The administration said the state has also seen declines since the Moore-Miller administration began.

What’s Happening: The Moore administration says preliminary 2025 numbers show violent crime dropped statewide compared to 2024, with sharp declines in homicides and non-fatal shootings.

  • The administration said homicides fell 25% statewide in 2025, the lowest level in nearly 40 years.
  • The administration said non-fatal shootings fell 28% statewide compared to 2024, and robberies fell by more than 25% statewide.

What’s Important: The administration also pointed to declines it says have happened since it took office, including in Baltimore City and Prince George’s County.

Since The Administration Took Office: The administration said preliminary data show:

  • Homicides are down 44% statewide, including down 58% in Baltimore City and down 39% in Prince George’s County.
  • Non-fatal shootings are down 40% statewide.
