A Dorchester County man was arrested and charged with attempted murder after firing multiple shots at a Maryland State Police trooper Thursday night.
Armond Darel Jolley, 46, of Vienna, is being held without bond at Dorchester County Detention Center. He was charged with attempted first-degree murder and other related criminal charges.
What Happened: A trooper from the Easton Barrack responded to a disturbance call at a home in the 100 block of Middle Street in Vienna at 10:20 p.m. Thursday. The trooper approached the front door, which was open, and made contact with a man standing inside the living room. The trooper asked to speak with the man, who then disappeared into the home. Moments later, the man returned with a gun and fired multiple shots at the trooper before fleeing.
The trooper was not injured and did not return fire. He retreated to cover and called for backup.
Troopers secured the area and searched the neighborhood. About 20 minutes after the shooting, they found the suspect near Water Street, directly behind the home. After a short foot pursuit, Jolley was taken into custody without further incident.
