A Laurel man faces multiple charges after a sheriff’s deputy caught him driving nearly twice the speed limit in Calvert County last month.

What’s Happening: Alex Daniel Morales Ramirez, 20, was pulled over on December 21, when a deputy clocked his vehicle at 98 mph in a 55 mph zone on Southern Maryland Boulevard near Dunkirk.

What’s Important: During the stop, officers found Morales Ramirez had no valid driver’s license. He reportedly told deputies he was picking up medication for his mother, but investigators later found this statement to be false.

The Charges: Morales Ramirez now faces several charges including reckless driving, excessive speeding, driving without a license, and making a false statement to a police officer.

Court records show he was released on his own recognizance the following day. His trial scheduling hearing is set for February 20, in Calvert County District Court.
