Maryland State Police are searching for a red 2025 Chevy Equinox that struck and killed a pedestrian on I-695 early Sunday morning before the driver fled the scene.

What’s Happening: Ahmed Waqus Qayun Kahn, 30, of Virginia, was killed around 2:30 a.m. on the outer loop of I-695 between Providence Road and Delaney Valley Road. The driver of the Chevy Equinox left the vehicle and fled after hitting Kahn.

What’s Important: A Mitsubishi Outlander was disabled in the left lane with hazard lights on after hitting a concrete barrier. A Toyota Camry then struck the rear of the Mitsubishi. People from both vehicles were standing on the left shoulder when the Chevy Equinox swerved onto the shoulder to avoid the Toyota and struck Kahn, who was a passenger in the Toyota.

What We Know: The Chevy Equinox has damage to the front and passenger side. Kahn was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported. The road was closed for about three hours.
