Unconscious patient airlifted after fall in Mechanicsville

A patient who fell and hit their head in Mechanicsville was airlifted after initially being found unconscious.

What’s Happening: Emergency crews responded to a fall with head injury at 3:02 p.m. The patient was unconscious when the call came in but was conscious and alert by the time Ambulance 299 and Engine Tanker 24 arrived.

What’s Important: A helicopter was requested after crews evaluated the patient. The landing zone was set up at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home helicopter pad.

Units that responded included Engine 23, Station 2, Ambulance 299, ALS Station 29, and Engine Tanker 24. A helicopter was placed on standby when the call first came in.
