Annapolis’ Historic District came in at No. 5 in a new national poll of places that real estate agents said feel most magical in spring.
Portland Real Estate said it surveyed 3,012 real estate agents to find neighborhoods and districts across the country known for spring flowers, walkable streets, and seasonal color.
What’s happening: Annapolis was the only Maryland location to make the top 10. The poll’s description pointed to tulips and cherry blossoms, brick sidewalks, colonial-era streets, and easy access on foot to the waterfront, downtown shops, and the U.S. Naval Academy grounds.
What’s important: The Annapolis Historic District ranked behind locations in New York, North Carolina, Louisiana, and South Carolina. It ranked ahead of entries in Oregon, Georgia, Virginia, and Connecticut.
The top 10:
- Central Park West, Manhattan, New York
- Myers Park, Charlotte, North Carolina
- Garden District, New Orleans, Louisiana
- Hampton Park Terrace, Charleston, South Carolina
- Annapolis Historic District, Annapolis, Maryland
- Laurelhurst, Portland, Oregon
- Isle of Hope, Savannah, Georgia
- Fan District, Richmond, Virginia
- Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia
- Wooster Square, New Haven, Connecticut
How this affects real people: Marylanders planning a spring walk or day trip can look to Annapolis’ historic district, where flowers, waterfront views, shops, and historic landmarks are all close together.
