Corey Daniel Claggett of Waldorf was sentenced to 12 years in prison on March 19 for possessing cocaine with intent to distribute, illegally possessing a firearm, and violating probation from a separate fentanyl conviction.
What’s Happening: Charles County Circuit Court Judge Monise A. Stephenson sentenced Claggett after law enforcement found cocaine, firearms, and drug packaging equipment at two residences connected to him.
What’s Important: Claggett was prohibited from possessing firearms due to a 1998 second-degree murder conviction and a 2024 conviction for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. The drugs recovered had an estimated street value of approximately $10,940.
What We Know: On September 4, 2025, members of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office executed search and seizure warrants at two residences associated with Claggett. Law enforcement recovered cocaine and other controlled dangerous substances in quantities consistent with distribution. They also found digital scale equipment commonly used for weighing and packaging narcotics, as well as firearms and ammunition. Claggett was found inside the master bedroom of one of the residences.
The Sentence: Claggett received 12 years in prison for possession with intent to distribute cocaine. He received five years concurrent for illegal possession of a firearm. He also received 12 years concurrent for violating probation on his 2024 fentanyl conviction.
