Four Maryland counties face high winds and dangerous cold through Sunday morning.

What’s Happening: Caroline, Kent, Queen Anne’s, and Talbot counties are under a Wind Advisory until midnight Saturday and an Extreme Cold Warning until noon Sunday. Northwest winds are blowing 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. Wind chills could drop as low as 9 degrees below zero.

What’s Important: The gusty winds may blow down tree limbs and cause power outages. Unsecured objects could be blown around. The extreme cold can cause hypothermia without proper precautions.

How This Affects Real People: Stay on lower levels of your home and avoid windows during high winds. If you go outside, dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves. Secure outdoor objects. Drive with caution. If you don’t have heat or shelter, call 211 for help finding a warm place.

The Timeline: The Wind Advisory ends at midnight Saturday. The Extreme Cold Warning ends at noon Sunday.
