Maryland State Police have responded to 62 crashes and received nearly 1,000 calls for service as a winter storm continues across the state.

What’s Happening: State police reported the crash and call totals Sunday as snow changed to sleet and rain in some areas. Troopers are working around the clock across Maryland.

What’s Important: Roads remain treacherous even though snow has stopped in some places. State police are asking Marylanders to avoid travel if possible.

The Storm: Maryland is under Winter Storm Warnings through Sunday and Monday. The state expects 4 to 8 inches of snow and up to half an inch of ice in some areas. Heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain have hit Maryland since Saturday. Governor Wes Moore declared a State of Emergency.

What Changed: Snow has subsided in some areas and changed to sleet or rain in others. The National Weather Service issued two Winter Storm Warnings covering different parts of the state. Dorchester County’s warning runs through 7 p.m. Monday. Wicomico, Somerset, Inland Worcester, and Maryland Beaches are under warning through 7 p.m. Sunday.
